The beautiful and historic city of Edinburgh is split into two distinct areas by the stunning  Princes Street Gardens, The Old Town and the New Town.

The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and at its heart, sitting atop a craggy outcropping is Edinburgh Castle which dates back 900 years and continues to dominate the city and skyline.

The Royal Mile is one of the most famous streets in the world and links together two of the City‟s most noted landmarks: The Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence in Scotland of HM, The Queen. Leading from the Royal Mile are numerous alleys or “closes” which are narrow streets where the mainstay of Edinburgh‟s medieval population lived in very close quarters.

The New Town is quite possibly the best remaining example of Georgian architecture in the UK. Dating back to 1767, it is characterised by elegant, formal gardens and squares. The buildings, many with columns and high ceilings have a classical, almost palatial feel.
